Department of Geography
The Department of Geography was established in the academic year 1971-72 with Prof. A. Q. Khan serving as the first Head of the Department. Initially, Geography was taught at the pre-degree level by History teachers. In 1935-36, Prof. R. G. Patil completed a diploma in Geography from Leeds University, England, and later became the first permanent Geography teacher at Rajaram College. Currently, the subject is taught from XI to the B.A. degree level. The department is well-equipped with a variety of teaching and learning tools and admits twenty students annually at the B.A.-III level. The department boasts a 100% pass rate. Various extra-curricular activities are conducted by the ‘Geographical Society,’ including lectures by distinguished personalities, competitive exam guidance, and study tours.
